Summary: FKB is currently seeking On-Call Fabricators and Installers of all skill and experience levels to join our dynamic and rapidly-growing Fabrication team. We are actively looking for individuals to supplement our teams during busy periods, offering on-call positions such as Wood Fabricators, Metal Fabricators, Installers, and Scenic Artists/Finishers. As an On-Call Fabricator, you will play a vital role in all aspects of fabrication on our bustling shop floor, collaborating closely with our team of seasoned professionals. Your primary focus will be executing precise shop drawings and working in tandem with senior members of the Fabrication Team to ensure the timely completion of projects. Regardless of the specific position, you will be required to work with various machines, equipment, and materials, ensuring the delivery of projects that meet exacting specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Regardless of the On-Call Position you’re applying for, all members of the FKB Fabrication team must adhere to the following duties and responsibilities. Other individualized duties and responsibilities for each position can be found under each position title below.
General fabrication, and shop work. Working with a variety of materials, and processes including carpentry, metalwork, and various degrees of finishing
Following fabrication instructions established by approved shop drawings and instructions from Senior Fabrication Team members
Proficiency in working with wood, metals, and other common construction materials & equipment to industry standards
Maintaining a streamlined workflow of materials through the shop throughout the process of fabrication, including the use of power tools, hand tools, and material handling equipment
Holding at minimum, or be willing to train for an OSHA 30 certification and adhering to OSHA standards, and all other safety and operations standards, including Company policies and procedures
Operating, or be willing to be trained on heavy equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, VRs
Operating other company vehicles such as flatbed trailers and box trucks
General upkeep and maintenance of all shop tools and equipment
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Fabrication
Wood Fabricators (All Levels) - Wood Fabricators / Carpenters / Cabinet Makers at FKB utilize their skills in woodworking and specialized material handling to deliver projects on time and within budget for a variety of FKB clients. Experience working with wood in a professional setting is required while experience with other materials (such as metal, solid surfaces, foam, plastics, etc) and experience installing projects on client sites for fabrication is encouraged.
Work with diverse materials, tools, and processes to complement carpentry focus
Following fabrication instructions established by approved shop drawings and instructions from Senior Fabrication Team members
Creating special fixtures/jigs for specific projects
Prepping and packaging products for shipment and delivery
Painting and finishing work, as needed
Participate in installations, where needed
Metal Fabricators (All Levels) - The Metal Fabricator assists in all aspects of fabrication on the shop floor as they relate to metalwork. They are responsible for executing specific shop drawings and working with senior members of the Fabrication Team to bring projects to completion. The Fabricator will be expected to have excellent fabrication skills and deep knowledge of the discipline(s) that they were hired to focus on. The Fabricator will be asked to work on various machines, equipment, and materials to deliver a project to exacting specifications.
Metal fabrication and welding, per design specifications and safety standards
Following fabrication instructions established by approved shop drawings and instructions from Senior Fabrication Team members.
Prepping and packaging products for shipment and delivery
Painting and finishing work, as needed
Participate in installations, where needed
Scenic Artist / Fabricator (Intermediate or higher level) - The Scenic Artist / Fabricator role is a specialized role within the larger Fabrication team. They will be asked to utilize the specific skills that relate to creating environments and experiences. This role will require experience in Sculpting, Painting, Finishing, Prop Making, and general Fabrication over a wide variety of materials, and processes. They will need to follow shop drawings (when applicable), and the direction of senior members of the Fabrication Team, including Fabrication leads and supervisors. They will be required to work both in the shop and on-site for installations and activations. At times there will be an expectation to help other members of the Fabrication team and to take on some traditional fabrication tasks, as needed.
Hand sculpting a wide variety of materials, especially various types of foam
Working with / finishing objects sculpted by CNC equipment
Some Carpentry, and or Metal Fabrication
Set building/dressing
Prop Making
Sanding / Finishing / Painting to various levels of finish
Set painting including faux finishes, and detailing
Material Management, shop and job-site organization, and cleaning
Other tasks needed for specific projects and other duties, as assigned
Fabricator / Installers (All Levels) - The Fabricator / Installer is a hybrid role on the Fabrication Team. In this role, one must first and foremost be a capable member of the Fabrication Team, assisting to various degrees in building scope items for projects. Shop work will require the ability to follow shop drawings to work with a wide variety of materials, tools, techniques, and technologies to fabricate items to a professional level of finish. Also required for this role is the ability to participate in installations at every level. This includes packing & prepping, traveling, loading & unloading, and most importantly installing, and de-installing a wide variety of temporary, and permanent installations. In addition to working in a professional manner with fellow FKB team members, you will be expected to interact/work with and alongside other trades, and companies. You will be expected to represent FKB professionally in all interactions.
Assisting with all aspects of project installations from start to finish
Upkeep, storage, and inventory of all tools and equipment related to installations
Assisting with site surveys, and efficiently sharing information with the relevant parties
Accurately measuring and laying out job sites to established specifications
Ability to problem solve in real-time to deal with changing conditions
General fabrication for projects this role is responsible for installing, which may range from metalwork, carpentry, and more (based on background, skills, and competency of the person filling the role)

Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience with on-site installations (2+ for Installers)
At least 1 year of shop experience and general knowledge of shop safety
Experience in an event-style production environment is strongly preferred
Experience with general finishing, painting, carpentry, woodworking, and/or metal fabrication – requirements vary by position
Experience in construction management a plus
Knowledge base of rigging, driving trucks, forklifts and other heavy equipment strongly preferred
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication in high-stress environments
Ability to manage resources on-hand to fulfill task
Exceptional organizational skills
Comfortable working with a diverse range of materials and in diverse environments/settings
Ability to work late nights and weekends, on the rare occasion it’s necessary to meet a project or deliverable deadline
Ability to pivot into different projects that are in different stages/phases
