Installed between October and November 2020, this interior fit-out for Di Bruno Bros’ location in Wayne, Pennsylvania was inspired by old-world European food markets and Di Bruno’s own Italian Market legacy. The Wayne location is the sixth for this South Philadelphia-based company, and the sprawling interior stretches over 8,000 square feet and encompasses Bar Alimentari—a full-service restaurant and bar—as well as separate counters serving Roman-style pizza and coffee and a fully stocked fresh market.

Challenged to create multiple prominent pieces in the space, FKB’s team set out to design, fabricate, and install highly functional, stylish, and thematically appropriate fixtures across the shop, café, and bar/restaurant. From iterating designs with the client to fully rendering the space and generating shop drawings, FKB used an iterative design process to create fixtures that would have the most utility while holding true to Di Bruno’s Italian Market aesthetic. Through this, FKB custom fabricated various shelving units, mirrored partitions, and the suspended metal structures that wrap above each section as well as a variety of smaller fixtures to create a cohesive aesthetic across the store.
