Installed in two parts in late 2020 and early 2021, this colossal sculpture welcomes guests to the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center on Independence Mall in Philadelphia, which opened to the public in May of 2021.

The 40-foot-tall, indoor-outdoor sculpture exemplifies FKB’s creative capabilities and is our largest placemaking installation to date. Made with thermoformed corian and entirely fabricated in-house, the Faith and Liberty sculpture presented our team with a bevvy of big challenges for creating big art.

Due to the sculpture's composition of inner-locking plywood subframes and thermoformed corian face panels, our team needed to employ innovative fabrication techniques to bring the piece to life. When it came time to fabricate these giant structures, we couldn’t find a solid surface thermoforming oven or a corian vacuum machine large enough to accommodate our needs—so we made our own.
